A.P.O. 929

 Dear Dad,

Seems rather funny to be writing directly to you since mom seems to be the letter writer of the family but since you wrote me I guess I’ll break right down and answer your now.  I haven’t had an opportunity to write the last few days but I am now in New Guinea.  Wish I could tell you the interesting part of all this but I guess that will have to wait till the war is over.  We are at last going to get a chance to show our stuff and see if we are any good.

This place is somewhat like Ruidoso to me.  Living conditions are very similar only they don’t rent horses here. Ha! Ha!  Try to imagine flying in a plane like Ruidoso and you have this place only its much worse.  The hills here would make “Old Baldy” look like the old nine mile mountain.

I didn’t see Alden Binge even tho I was there all the time.  Joe Geer is there and hasn’t seen him either.  Looks like I would have seen him when I was there.  Lindberg doesn’t have too much on me either.  I never did see Ed Hennig, even tried to look him up but he wasn’t around.

Wish you could see where I live because I know you could give us some good ideas about camp life so if you happen to think about anything be sure to tell me your ideas and will try them.  I am living with Lytle a boy from Dallas, Hnatio and Chase.  Tell Mom to drop Mrs. Lytle a letter.  It’s his wife, not his mother.

Well, don’t worry, Dad.  I think we’ll do all right.  Just keep everything going at home.

                                                                                                 Love,

                                                                                                 Son
